Day 2 Workflow

It all began with...........

Reflecting on what has worked so far and what needs a little tweaking. The thing that resonates with me is to remember that we were not born into this computer era so this is still a little like a foreign language.

Key during Lockdown as a way of teaching and learning.

What can Google meet do??

Remote calls

Video calling

Screen sharing

Record our meetings

Key to Google Meet with children is to be the FIRST to the meeting. (Otherwise there could be a little havoc before you arrive).

Important to remember Etiquette during a meet. This is important to stress with the children, caregivers and staff.

Creating the Meet.

Once the meet is set up it is important you record this. (Etiquette to ask the participants before record is pressed).

Embedding a video into a blog......

Below is evidence of the Google Meet from today and embedded in this blog.

Unpacking the Manaiakalani pedagogy.

The Manaiakalani framework can be described as the whare. The structure that is the framework but the interior is based on the needs within. A common learning language between each school but the curriculum is contextualised to suit the community.

Learn, Create, Share means inclusion of all.

Manaiakalani is the whare that supports the framework of individual schools while Learn, Create, Share is the floorboards of the whare.

Expecting accelerated results without effective teaching is a disaster waiting to happen. "Don't throw the baby out with the bath water".  Continue to do what is working for your individual school community and learners but to also embrace the world in which our learners are growing up in. The world is changing and our response to learning needs to change to reflect the learners we have in front of us. In 2021 we might re evaluate programmes gone by- some may need tweaking for the digital age but ultimately good practice should remain good practice.

What does effective practice in digital practice look like?

There is lots of documents to guide us with this.....how does this recognise the relevance in the digital world??? This is NOT to say that pre digital documents don't have relevance in todays world.

The key is great teaching + digital affordance = World Class Teachers.

The digital age is NOT just a tool.... it enables the removal of barriers this is life changing for  ALL our learners.

The online diary that keeps you on track of what the day/ week/ month holds without having to also carry around a physical diary. This can be added to other platforms for easy access.  It also allows for other calendars to be added to keep track of work and/or private lives of the individual /partners /families /work colleagues etc.

So far so good. This computer world might be starting to look less like a foreign language......I hope!!!!!
