Day One
To be fair this day has not been as scary as I first thought.
We started the day meeting each other and it was a welcome relief to hear there are others in a similar boat as me in the techno world. As promised to the gorgeous facilitators I was the one who asked those questions!!!!
It was great to learn the background of Manaiakalani. What a journey to get to this stage for many focused and driven professionals who fought to get access to technology in schools. The aim was to motivate learners to become engaged with the curriculum. The philosophy that the books live in the cloud! The initiative of Learn, Create, Share was also developed through this venture. It is a journey that continues to 'live' for many learners today.
Today I have realised I have to have a go, take lots of notes and listen. "Practise makes perfect" and "use it or lose it" comes to mind!!!! Will be important to ensure I make time to work through this.
New to me......google groups, organising my drive (in much need of a spring clean), setting up a professional profile, chrome extensions, google docs101 (lots of amazing things to shortcut life in here) and creating this blog.
One thing I aim to take back to school this week is to use 'Create Doc' to set up a 'to do' poster for one of my little lads. Will see how this goes!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think the fact that I am going to do a spring clean on my doc will make life so much easier. (*2021)
I am looking forward to seeing where this journey of discovery will go. Time to embrace the techno world without fear!
Roll on next week.
Kia ora Theresa,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear it wasn't as scary as you thought! How have you got on tidying that drive? It can be such a mission! Remember you can hold down the shift key to select multiple items at a time.

Hi Theresa,
ReplyDeleteHow useful organising your drive can be. Just like a good filing cabinet is a well-filed drive.
I have learnt today about the * taking priority over numbers. Thanks for sharing that tip.
